Alex Correa Executive is a Brisbane-based legal recruitment firm working with lawyers, law firms, in-house legal teams, government organisations and public sector-adjacent employers in Brisbane and across Queensland.

We help people and organisations make considered decisions about legal careers and legal teams. That means looking beyond a CV or position description, and listening carefully to understand the context around each career move or appointment. Our work is grounded in care, honesty and advocacy for the right outcome.

Our story

Alex Correa Executive was founded by Alex Correa in 2010, shaped by her earlier experience inside law firm environments and legal professional development. That background gave Alex a deep understanding of how legal careers are built, how legal teams operate, and how much judgement sits behind a strong appointment.

From the beginning, the firm has been built around relationships, trust and careful advice. Legal careers are rarely simple or linear, and legal hiring is never just about technical skill. Good decisions require context, timing, honesty and a clear understanding of what will work in practice.

Over time, Alex Correa Executive has become known for its thoughtful and discerning approach to recruitment: helping legal employers understand the capability their team really needs, and helping lawyers recognise where their experience, strengths and ambitions may be valued. We look closely at what sits beneath the surface, so we can understand what will genuinely serve the person, the role and the organisation.

Our values

Honesty

We give clear, practical advice. Sometimes that means encouraging a move, appointment or hiring decision. Sometimes it means slowing down, refining the brief, reassessing timing, or saying that an opportunity is not the right fit.

Care

We listen carefully to understand the person, the role, the team and the context. Career moves and hiring decisions both carry weight, and we treat them with the care and attention they deserve.

Advocacy

We advocate for people, capability and possibilities that deserve to be properly understood. That includes recognising the strengths a candidate may bring, and helping employers see where different experience, perspective or potential may serve the team well.

Judgement

We bring a long view of the Brisbane and Queensland legal market, and the discernment to look beyond what appears right on paper. We consider what is likely to work in practice for the person, the role, the team and the organisation over time.

Meet the team

The alex correa executive team brings a relationship-led approach and deep connections in Brisbane and across queensland.

The team works with lawyers and legal employers in Brisbane and across Queensland, including law firms, in-house legal teams, government organisations and public sector-adjacent employers. Alex Correa Executive is a boutique legal recruitment firm with a wide and trusted network, built through years of careful relationships in Brisbane and across Queensland.

Those relationships help us understand the movement, expectations and possibilities that are not always visible through job advertisements or formal processes. We also work with trusted collaborators and referrers where additional perspective or specialist support can strengthen the outcome.

This network is part of how we serve both candidates and employers. It helps us stay close to the market, listen carefully and make introductions that are grounded in context.

Work with a team that understands the whole picture.

Frequently asked questions

Working with Alex Correa Executive is straightforward, honest and built on trust. We ask questions because we want to represent you properly, not to catch you out, and we will always tell you where we stand.

  • What does it actually mean to work with a legal recruiter?

Working with us means having someone advocate for you, not just forward your CV. We take the time to understand your experience, your values and what you are actually looking for, and we use that to guide conversations with firms who may be right for you.

It is easy to put forward a candidate whose CV already speaks for itself. The harder, more valuable work is advocating for someone whose story sits beyond the CV, whether that means time away from practice, a change in direction, or simply not fitting the obvious mould a firm had in mind. That is where we spend most of our energy.

We will also tell you honestly when something is not the right fit, even if that is not what you were hoping to hear. Advocacy means representing you properly, not telling you what you want to hear.

  • Do I need to have a specific role in mind before I get in touch?

No. Many of the lawyers we work with are not responding to a specific advertised role. Some are exploring the market or considering a change they have not fully defined yet, and a conversation with us is a chance to think out loud, not a commitment to apply for anything.

  • Will you send my details or CV to a firm without asking me first?

No. We will never share your details with a firm without your knowledge and agreement. Every introduction we make is one you have discussed with us and agreed to first. Discretion matters to us, particularly given how closely connected the legal community in Brisbane and Queensland can be.

  • Why do you ask what roles I have already applied for, either directly or through another agency?

This is an important question, and one we ask every candidate, so please never feel awkward answering it honestly.

Most firms operate under a candidate ownership arrangement, generally around twelve months. In practice, this means that if you have already applied to a firm, whether directly, through another recruiter, or for a different role or team within that firm, that firm's rules may limit what we can do on your behalf there.

We ask about this early, and always with care, because it protects you as much as it protects us. It means we can be upfront from our very first conversation about where we may or may not be able to help, rather than you finding out later. Being open about your search history does not count against you. It helps us focus our energy where we can genuinely make a difference.

  • How do you decide which roles or firms to put me forward for?

We look well beyond a job title, considering the team, the culture and how that lines up with your experience, values and the kind of work you want more of. We would rather have a smaller number of well considered conversations on your behalf than send your details everywhere and hope something lands.

This is also where advocacy matters most. If we believe you are right for a role, we will make that case even when your experience does not sit neatly on paper.

  • What if now is not the right time for me to move?

That is a completely reasonable outcome. Sometimes the most useful advice we can give is to wait, build more experience, or simply keep the conversation open for when the timing suits you better. We would rather give you honest guidance now than encourage a move that does not serve you.

  • Is my conversation with you confidential?

Yes. What you share with us stays between us unless you tell us otherwise. Your current employer, colleagues and network will not hear about our conversation from us, and we will only approach a firm on your behalf once you have agreed to it.

  • What happens after I first get in touch?

We will arrange a conversation to properly understand your experience, what you are looking for, and any search you have already done. From there, we will be honest with you about where we can help, what the market may realistically offer, and what a sensible next step looks like.
