Bring Your Family Law Experience to a Role With Broader Impact
You’ve built strong experience in family law and are ready for a role that gives you the opportunity to do more with it. One where you can continue working directly with clients, while also mentoring others, contributing to the growth of a regional team and helping strengthen access to legal services for women across the Bundaberg region.
Women’s Legal Service Queensland is seeking a Senior Solicitor to join its Bundaberg team, combining hands-on legal work with leadership, mentoring and meaningful community impact
The Organisation
Women’s Legal Service Queensland provides legal and social support to women across Queensland, with specialist services spanning family law, domestic and family violence, child protection and other areas of legal and social need.
For an experienced family lawyer, this is an opportunity to undertake meaningful legal work within a multidisciplinary environment, working alongside specialist legal teams, social workers and financial abuse prevention teams to provide holistic support to clients
The Opportunity
Based in Bundaberg, you’ll provide legal advice and representation to women across family law, domestic and family violence and child protection matters. Your work will include advice, minor assistance, representation, duty lawyer services and outreach.
There’s also a genuine leadership element to the role. You’ll support the Supervising Solicitors with the leadership and management of the Bundaberg team, provide guidance and mentoring to others and have the support of a Legal Support Officer who reports directly to you.
Beyond the day-to-day legal work, you’ll also have the opportunity to build relationships with local organisations and stakeholders and help strengthen WLSQ’s connections and service delivery across the region.
Why WLSQ?
- No billable targets
- Flexible working arrangements
- Additional gifted leave over Christmas and New Year
- Attractive salary packaging options
- Supportive supervision and mentoring
- Genuine opportunities for professional development
- Meaningful, hands-on client work
- The opportunity to help strengthen legal services for women in regional Queensland
You’ll have 5+ years' PAE in family law and domestic and family violence, including complex advice and court document drafting. You’ll also bring the confidence to mentor and support others and build strong relationships with clients, colleagues and community stakeholders. Domestic violence duty lawyer accreditation is desirable, but not essential.
Please note: It is a genuine occupational requirement for this position that the incumbent be a woman under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).
