For the Tax Lawyer Who Wants to Become a Complete Adviser
The Firm
Our client is a national commercial law firm with a strong reputation for advising major public and private sector organisations. Its tax practice works across complex transactions, disputes and regulatory matters, offering lawyers access to sophisticated work and experienced mentors.
The Timing
This newly created role reflects continued growth within the practice. Working closely with a respected tax partner, you'll gain exposure to both advisory and dispute-related matters while developing into a well-rounded tax practitioner.
The Work Itself
Few tax roles offer meaningful exposure to both front-end and back-end work.
You'll advise on income tax, CGT, GST and duties matters, while also assisting clients through ATO reviews, audits, objections and disputes. The result is a practice that combines technical advisory work with strategic problem-solving, providing broad experience across transactions, projects and tax controversy matters.
Where You'll Land
You'll join a collaborative team where lawyers are given responsibility, direct access to experienced practitioners and genuine opportunities to develop their careers. Flexible working arrangements, 26 weeks paid parental leave, purchased leave, study leave and wellbeing initiatives support a culture focused on both professional success and long-term sustainability.
Sound Like You?
You'll have at least 2-3 years' experience practising as a lawyer, with exposure to tax, commercial or corporate matters. Technically strong and commercially minded, you'll enjoy analysing complex issues and delivering practical advice to clients. Whether your experience has been primarily advisory or dispute-focused, you'll be looking for an opportunity to broaden your expertise within a specialist tax practice.
