You've built solid commercial litigation experience, but the matters feel routine and the clients rarely carry real weight. You're ready for work that sits at the intersection of government, financial institutions and insolvency, where the stakes are real and the legal questions are genuinely difficult.
The Firm
This is a well-established commercial litigation practice within a broader full-service firm, recognised for its work advising government and financial institutions on complex regulatory and insolvency matters. The team acts for Federal and State Government departments, banks, receivers and other insolvency practitioners on some of the most significant enforcement and recovery matters in the market.
The Timing
The team is growing. The role is built primarily around one of the firm's partners, with deep experience across public sector advice, insolvency and complex litigation, with the balance of work spread across other partners in the commercial disputes team.
The Work Itself
Think financial institutions litigation with real teeth, from regulatory enforcement and Credit Act matters through to insolvency-related disputes and asset recovery work for receivers. Add to that a steady stream of high-net-worth and medium-sized business disputes, giving you a genuinely varied caseload alongside exposure to some of the more complex regulatory and public sector matters the team handles.
Where You'll Land
A structured, established team: two other Senior Associates, four Associates, and a couple of junior lawyers, backed by dedicated paralegals and legal assistants. There's genuine firmwide investment in flexibility, including purchased leave and flexible hours. Parental leave is well ahead of the market, with up to 30 weeks paid. Sound Like You?
You're a commercial litigator, ideally 1–2 years post SA promotion. Experience in regulatory, insolvency or government litigation is a strong plus, but a solid commercial disputes background at an established firm, in-house, or government team will also be considered. You bring technical strength, sound judgement and the composure to work on matters with genuine public and regulatory scrutiny.
