For the Family Lawyer Who Wants the Work to Mean Something
You chose family law because it matters. But somewhere between the billable targets, the business development expectations and the relentless pace, the work that drew you to this area of law can start to feel like a footnote.
This is an opportunity for a family lawyer with 2+ years PAE who is ready for an environment where the work is genuinely meaningful, the structure is supportive and the culture has been built with sustainable careers in mind.
The Organisation
Women's Legal Service Queensland is one of the state's most respected purpose-driven legal services, supporting women impacted by domestic and family violence. Since 2021 the organisation has more than doubled in size, now exceeding 100 staff across metropolitan and regional Queensland. It is known for strong supervision structures, a collaborative culture and a genuine commitment to keeping good lawyers in the profession for the long term.
The Timing
The organisation is in a period of meaningful growth, expanding its specialist practice areas across Queensland. They are looking for a lawyer who can deliver high-quality advice across family law and domestic violence matters, working closely with casework and litigation teams to ensure clients receive coordinated, holistic support.
The Work Itself
Complex, sensitive and important. Advisory work with clients at critical early stages of their legal journey. Trauma-informed practice within a well-resourced team that takes supervision seriously. No billable targets. No business development expectations. Just the work.
Where You'll Land
A collaborative, purpose-driven environment with flexible working including one to two days from home, a 9am start time, structured supervision, additional Christmas and New Year leave and attractive salary packaging options that meaningfully increase your take-home pay.
Sound Like You?
A family lawyer with 2+ years PAE in family law, domestic violence or generalist practice. Strong advisory skills, genuine empathy and a commitment to trauma-informed, client-centred work. This role is particularly well suited to practitioners seeking part-time or school hours arrangements.
