Our client is the in-house legal practice of a leading healthcare union, providing dedicated legal services to union members across Queensland. With a team of 12 spanning family law, employment, health regulatory, estates and conveyancing, this is a practice built on purpose - delivering meaningful legal support to healthcare professionals when they need it most.
The family law practice has been operating for five years and is now firmly gaining traction, underpinned by a membership base of over 70,000 and a strong, ongoing marketing push driving sustained demand.
Your New Role
This role is an initial maternity leave cover commencing in July, with the incumbent anticipated to return after approximately 12 months. Given the continued growth of the practice, there is a genuine possibility of the position becoming permanent for the right person.
You will step into a busy and well-established caseload with a clear split of approximately 75% property and 25% parenting matters. Asset pools typically range from $500K to $7M, with the average sitting between $2M and $3M.
Work spans property settlements, children's matters, consent orders, mediation and some domestic violence matters. The client base is drawn almost exclusively from the union's membership, providing a steady and reliable pipeline of referrals rather than reliance on public marketing.
To support your transition, a senior family law specialist will be available in a casual capacity during July, offering mentoring and guidance as you settle into the role. The practice regularly briefs experienced junior and senior counsel, with well-established referral relationships already in place.
This role will suit an experienced family lawyer who is confident managing a varied caseload with autonomy, and who is energised by working within a values-driven organisation.
