Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ) is a highly regarded, purpose-driven legal service supporting women impacted by domestic and family violence. Since 2021, the organisation has doubled in size and expanded its specialist legal capability, including the establishment of a dedicated Temporary Visa Program (TVP). WLS operates across multiple Queensland locations and is recognised for its structured supervision, collaborative culture and meaningful client impact.

Your New Role
This is a specialist role within the Temporary Visa Program, supporting women experiencing domestic violence who hold temporary visas. You will manage complex migration matters that intersect with family law and protection issues.

You will provide strategic visa advice, prepare applications under family violence provisions, liaise with the Department and other stakeholders, and work closely with internal family law teams to deliver holistic outcomes.

This role requires strong technical capability and sound judgement. It will suit an experienced migration lawyer seeking purpose-driven work without sacrificing complexity or autonomy.

Your Skills Profile  
  • 4+ years PAE in migration law (family violence provisions experience essential)
  • Strong knowledge of temporary visa frameworks
  • Experience managing complex client matters
  • Ability to work collaboratively across practice areas
  • Trauma-informed and client-centred approach and 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work sensitively with clients from diverse backgrounds
