Your New Role
In this role, you’ll act for respondent parties in a large number of native title claims and advise a broad client base—local governments, government corporations, developers, and pastoral holders—on the native title and cultural heritage dimensions of major infrastructure and development projects.

Joining this highly regarded team means gaining access to a wide scope of matters that few practices can offer. You'll enjoy hands-on experience across:

  • Providing strategic advice on compliance with native title and Aboriginal cultural heritage legislation;
  • Appearing in Federal Court mediations and case management hearings;
  • Conducting due diligence investigations and delivering insightful assessment advice; and
  • Supporting and leading negotiations on Indigenous Land Use Agreements and Cultural Heritage Agreements.

Your Skills Profile
  • 1 - 4 years PAE;
  • An understanding of native title and cultural heritage legislation;
  • Be comfortable working closely with clients and Traditional Owners;
  • Be interested in solving novel legal issues;
  • Capable of juggling multiple matters and prioritising effectively;
  • Have the ability or desire to run with matters with the assistance of a partner, as required;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Self-driven and able to meet deadlines;
  • Willingness to undertake pro-bono work, as required;
  • Enjoy working in a team environment; and 
  • Travel, when necessary, for meetings or on-country court appearances.
Whilst experience in native title law would be beneficial, we are also interested to hear from those with a genuine passion to practice in this area.
