Lead a Team of Lawyers Making a Difference in Vulnerable Women's Lives
You've built the technical depth. You've done the hard matters. Now you want to bring others along, to shape a team, lift the standard, and stay close to the work that drew you to family law in the first place.
The Firm
Our client is one of the country's largest community legal services. A well-established, mission-driven organisation with a permanent team of 70+ and around 200 dedicated volunteers. They operate across the Eastern Seaboard with a network of offices and a recently opened site expanding their reach. A serious legal practice with the scale, stability and reputation to match any mid-tier firm, doing work that genuinely matters to the women and families they serve.
The Timing
The Brisbane Casework team is growing, and a Supervising Solicitor role has opened to lead it. It's a chance to step into senior leadership in an organisation that takes both its lawyers and its mission seriously, and to shape how the team practises, develops and delivers.
The Work Itself
One day might see you sitting with a junior solicitor working through a complex family law file, signing off on advice and lifting the technical quality of the team's output. Another might involve running your own complex matter, the kind that requires the depth and judgment that only comes with years in practice. Another still might see you chairing case management meetings, coordinating workflows, building out a professional development plan for a graduate, or working through a referral pathway with an external stakeholder. The role blends senior casework with genuine leadership: file reviews, quality audits, recruitment, training, performance management, and shaping a team culture grounded in feminist principles and professional excellence.
Where You'll Land
A workplace culture lawyers actively seek out: collaborative, purpose-driven and grown-up. A leadership role with real scope, not a title with no teeth. A generous salary package with salary sacrificing for more cash in hand. Flexible working arrangements that work in practice, not just on paper. No billables, no BD, no marketing, just the work and the team doing it.
Sound Like You?
You're a senior family lawyer with substantial experience across family law, domestic violence and child protection. You've supervised others before, or you're ready to. You bring the technical depth to sign off on advice with confidence, sound judgment in complex and crisis matters, and the people skills to lead a team well.
