Our client is a leading independent Brisbane firm with a national and international client base. The tax and tax disputes team sits within the broader Commercial and Private Client workgroup — a full-service environment where tax advice connects directly to the transactions and disputes it informs.
The Timing
The team is actively investing in practitioners who can bridge tax advisory and legal practice. Rather than expecting you to start from scratch, they recognise the value of your tax expertise and have structured this role to support a successful transition into law. You'll work closely with experienced tax lawyers, building practical legal skills while leveraging the technical foundation you've already developed.
The Work Itself
This is a genuinely broad tax practice that moves seamlessly between advisory, disputes and transactional work. One day you may be drafting an objection to an ATO assessment, the next advising on the tax implications of a commercial transaction or assisting a client through a state revenue review. You'll work across both federal and state tax regimes, helping clients navigate complex tax issues from initial advice through to implementation and dispute resolution.
The client base includes corporates, private businesses and high-net-worth individuals, giving you exposure to a wide variety of commercial and technical challenges.

An accountant with 3+ years in tax advisory and a completed law degree, genuinely motivated to transition into legal practice.
